SQUAD DEFINITION AND CRITERIA

Squad progression through the club is:

Nemos →  Minnows →  Marlins → Dolphins → Silver Sharks → Gold Sharks

Movement to the next Squad up depends upon:

*     Ability; both physical & technical

*     Attitude towards training & adaptability to higher intensity training

*     Competition experience at Open meets

*     Space available - 1 for 1 movements as space becomes available

 

When squads are full the training requirements of each squad will be adapted to according to the swimmers needs. 

All swimmers are expected to have a hat (if hair is long) and goggles and spares where possible, and a water botte (labelled) at each session, plus spares.

Nemos – Junior transition from learn to swim to competitive swimming

Training 1 session, total 1 hour a week (Friday or Saturday)

Requirements: 1 session a week

 

Swimmers in all squads from Minnows and above are expected to have their own training kit where possible in a Kit Bag containingKickboard, Pullbuoy, Fins and Optional Training Snorkel

Minnows – Junior Development Squad

Training 3 sessions, 2.75 hours 45 a week

Requirements: recommended to train 2 sessions a week minimum

 

Marlins – Junior Development Squad

Training 4 sessions, 4 hours a week

Requirements: recommended to train 2 sessions a week minimum

 

Dolphins – Junior Competitive Squad

Training 5 sessions, 6.5 hours a week

Minimum Open Meet requirements are:  3 Open Meets per year (Sept to Aug)

Minimum training requirements are: 3 out of 5 sessions per week

 

Silver Sharks – Senior Competitive Squad

Training 6 sessions, 8.5 hours a week

Minimum Open Meet requirements are:  4 Open Meets per year (Sept to Aug)

Minimum training requirements are: 3 out of 6 sessions per week

 

Gold Sharks – Elite Competitive Squad

Training 6 sessions,  9.75 hours a week

Minimum Open Meet requirements are:  4 Open Meets per year (Sept to Aug)

Minimum training requirements are: 4 out of 6 sessions per week
